UPDATE, 2 p.m.: Damages assessments are continuing in Wyoming County.

The most extensive damage occurred along routes 78 and 362, said Director Brian Meyers of the county’s Fire & Emergency Management Department. Personnel are working to close additional side roads to allow crews to continue working in the area.

National Grid has reported 60 customers without electricty, while New York State Electric & Gas has restored service to most of its customers.

No injuries were reported and the American Red Cross is assisting.

Initial reports sow three structures damaged, including at a barn site in North Java. More than a dozen trees have been downed, along with power lines.

Officials are still waiting for the National Weather Service to confirm if a tornado occurred

UPDATE, 11:55 a.m. Storm-related damage has been reported in Wyoming County following today’s tornado warning.

As of 11:30 a.m. the initial damage reports are approximately near Route 78, in the vicinity of Eagle, Java, Wethersfield and Gainesville.

Route 78 has been closed from Route 362 to Chaffee Road due to weather-related damage, according to the New York State alert system. Initial scanner reports indicated a collapsed barn near Chaffee Road, along with multiple downed wires and trees.

No injuries have been reported.

Beyond the damage reports, the NWS does not indicate any active weather alerts in Wyoming County.

The Daily News has staff headed to the scene. Stay tuned for more details. UPDATE, 11:10 a.m.: As the tornado warning expires, a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued.

The warning will be in effect until noon for Livingston and southeastern Wyoming counties. Gusts of up to 60 mph and hail are possible.

INITIAL REPORT, 11:47 a.mm: GAINESVILLE — A tornado warning has been issued for portions of Wyoming and Livingston counties.

At 10:36 a.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles northeast of Arcade, or 16 miles west of Letchworth State Park, moving east at 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

Flying debris could be dangerous to those caught without shelter, NWS officials said. Mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed.

Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles could occur. Tree damage is likely.

Affected areas may include: Letchworth State Park, Perry, Warsaw, Portageville, Nunda, Eagle, Pike, Castile, Silver Springs and Gainesville.
